It's all about the Shag! ST Louis Shag that is.. A Brief Swing On In Newsletter!

Who wants to Shag with us? St Louis Shag that is! Ray and I are teaching this iconic dance for Swing Patrol Brisbane on Saturday 4th May (May the Shag Fourth be with you!) – Brisbane Lithuanian Club – 10.15am start – Check link below for all the details and how to book.

Ray and I learnt this dance from the World Lindy Hop Hall of Famers “”Sylvia Sykes and Johnathon Bixby (Sadly passed away) back in the early 90’s. The style they taught us is slightly different to what you mostly see on the floor now which is why it is unique and once you learn it you can throw it in at any time in your lIndy Hop and wow the audiences with something a little different!

From Swing Patrol:

The St Louis Shag is another great partnered swing dance, derived from the Charleston. It is commonly danced to music with a fast tempo, making this style a good choice for a social and party atmosphere. A wonderful and fun dance that everyone should have as part of their swing dance repertoire. Chrissy & Ray will be sharing their passion for St Louis Shag in this workshop.

Chrissy & Ray are part of the fabric of the Australian swing dance scene and have been part of it from the start. Great friends of Frankie Manning, they have been sharing this dance we love on the Gold Coast for years under their banner of SWING On In. So much teaching experience and passion for the community and the dance. They have a super relaxed and chilled teaching style so come and be part of this really unique offering.
