Hello there and happy days to our fabulous Swing On In dance community! We have some exciting events lined up for you, so let’s dive right in:

**1. Recap of Sydney Weekend:**

I’ve just returned from an incredibly successful and epic weekend in Sydney at the fantastic new dance venue, The Wriggle Room. Trudi, Mr. Deano, and Squish are the amazing folks behind this venue, and their passion and knowledge of Lindy Hop are truly inspiring. I had the pleasure of conducting a Lindy Charm School Vintage Styling Hair and Makeup Workshop for a bunch of lovely ladies, followed by teaching “The Mama Stew” to some of their experienced dancers. It was challenging, but oh so rewarding! And as a quirky highlight, I ended up sharing a shuttle with four Greek Orthodox high priests on my way to the airport—a sign of a truly blessed weekend. Huge thanks to my hosts and dear friends Tim, Sammy, and Sue for their unwavering support!

**2. Vintage Vinyl Soirée:** – This Saturday night!

We are thrilled to announce our first-ever Vintage Vinyl Soirée, an intimate dance night.

Where:  Ground and Sound  23 Musgrave Ave, Chirn Park.

When:   Saturday nights once a month Starting THIS  Saturday night 23rd March (Further dates below)

Time:  6.30pm – Free Dance taster Class – Tell your non dancing friends to try it out then tunes kick off at 7pm

The evening will kick off with a free taster dance class at 6:30 PM, followed by vintage tunes starting at 7:00 PM. We’ve secured a six-month deal for this monthly event, so mark your calendars and get ready for some classy Swing dancing! Feel free to dress up in your vintage best and join us for cocktails, dancing, or both. While this event is free, we kindly ask for your generosity in tipping the DJ—who has scoured the globe to bring you the best vinyl tracks to dance to!

**3. Congratulations and Welcomes:**

At 6am this morning Ray and I received the news our 8th grandbaby was born and she’s a beauty, little Miss Lemmie Violet!.  I will leave the deets to the parents to share but I think its safe to say that our kids are breeders!  8 amongst 3 of them!  Family dinners just got a little more crowded (in a good way!)

ALSO..  ..  A massive congratulations to Arrienne and Scott from Swing Patrol Brisbane on the arrival of their firstborn child, Denzel! We can’t wait to meet the newest addition to our dance community and watch him follow in his parents’ dancing footsteps.

**4. Upcoming Events:**

We have a jam-packed schedule ahead! Keep an eye out for details on an exciting event happening in May in Sydney, featuring international dance instructors and plenty of after-parties. Plus, don’t forget about Cooley Rocks in June, featuring the incredible Melissa Western and her Moxie Crew. Get your tickets early for a night of perfect Swing music and dazzling dance performances. And mark your calendars for the very first Coast Lindy Exchange Lindy Fest in July—details below!

The Teachers:

Peter Flahiff and Lauren smith from Seattle USA  are two dynamic swing dance instructors with over forty years of teaching experience between them in the great classic dances of the Swing Era. Based in Seattle, they spend much of their time teaching at dance events and workshops all over the world.

Saturday 1 June 2024 – Hepcat Hustle Swing Dance at Mullum –  With Band (TBA)

5-9 JUNE 2024 – COOLY ROCKS ON COOLANGATTA GOLD COAST

Ray and I head down to CRO ever year for our annual nostalgic local getaway!  Its always so much fun.  We do have our fingers in a few apple pies such as:

  1.  Miss Chrissy (Moi!)  is one of CRO’s Pin Up Pageant Ambassadors.   Having started the pageants 10 years ago, it is always a highlight for me to work with and alongside a greater team to keep the integrity of this pageant which is watched around the world and attracts entries also from around the world.  This free event is always entertaining so I encourage to come along and enjoy the show.  Details HERE
  2. Swing A Billy Ray is the CRO resident DJ and you can find him behind the famous bowser at the Harvest Moon Swing Dance and also the Beachside Rock n Roll Dance
  3. Both Ray and I host the Harvest Moon Swing Dance and I’m so thrilled that we have secured Melissa Western and her Moxy Crew.  A pure delight and I promise you will love them!  Get your tickets today (if there are any left that is!)   Also, I’m excited to let you all know that our awesome troupe (The Halfbreaks) will be performing again to a brand new routine by our super star choreographers Glenn & Rachael!

Comin in Hot, news of a Gold Coast Lindy Exchange is hitting our social media channels.  I don’t know a lot of details but we will definitely share once we know more.

**5. Couch Surfing for visiting Lindy Hoppers**

For those planning to attend upcoming events from out of town, we know finding accommodation can be tricky. If you have a couch or spare room to offer, please let us know! There’s always a Lindy hopper in need of a place to crash AND you make life long Lindy Hopper Friends from around the globe!
