Swing On In Newsletter – It’s a Fast Texas Tommy one Tonight!

Hey there Swing kids!

 

We hope you had a fantastic weekend and are ready for some exciting news and upcoming events. Here’s what’s in store for you:

 

1. **Free Beginners’ Week:** It’s our second week of offering free beginner lessons, and we need your help to spread the word. Tell your friends and family that they can join us for three more free beginner lessons this week.

Two locations:

– **Wednesday Nights** at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast, starting at 7:45 pm.

– **Thursday Nights** at the Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club, also beginning at 7:45 pm.

Don’t hesitate to give your friends a nudge – they have nothing to lose and might discover a newfound love for dancing!

 

2. **ChromeFest on the Central Coast:** This Thursday night, Ray and Chrissy will be heading to the rockabilly festival, ChromeFest, on the Central Coast of NSW. Swing A Billy Ray will be DJing, and Miss Chrissy from Lindy Charm School is offering styling workshops and a pop-up salon. So, even though we won’t be at Mullumbimby, we have fantastic guest instructors (PETE AND RENEE!) to lead the class, plus the pocket rocket Deryn and some keen advanced dancers to help you out!  Angel Gabrielle will be on the front door to say Hi and sign you in!  ! Don’t miss out, and we look forward to hearing all about it!

3. **Halloween Social Dance:** A big thank you to everyone who joined our spooky Halloween social dance on Friday night. Congratulations to Casa Davey and Shaun for winning our best-dressed competition! We also want to give a special shout-out to Charlotte’s Web for her enchanting performance and to Rhydian Lewis for his incredible support throughout the year, bringing his fabulous crooner style to our parties.

4.  Zombie Walk

Want something different to do?  This sounds fun!  Going to make it an annual event.  Ray and I will be driving back from Central Coast but if we get home early enough we are going to try and get to this.
ZOMBIE WALK – TUESDAY 31 OCTOBER – 8PM – FREE – An event by John Lacey (One of our swing dancers!) 
Calling all the ‘undead’! Shuffle your corpses down to the beachfront promenade at Surfers Paradise at sundown, wear your clothes torn, and look your worst!
For this is a chance on ‘All Hallows Eve’ to reveal your best (worst) Zombie, and en-masse make our way groaning through the hell of Surfers Paradise.
We shall assemble at Eileen Peters Park for 8:00pm, shuffling off around 8:30pm along the seafront, perhaps devouring the odd living person if we catch them, before heading up Cavill Avenue, and finishing off with a drink (and Thriller dance) at a nearby venue to be announced.

5. **End of Year Christmas Party:** Believe it or not, 2023 is coming to a close! Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 17th, for our end-of-year Christmas party at the Kingscliff Community Hall. It’s going to be a tiki and cocktail summer-themed extravaganza, and you’re all invited. Start getting your summer cocktail outfits ready, and heres the details:

🌞🌴 Get ready to sizzle at the Swing On In Tropical Summer Party as we bid farewell to 2023 in style! 🎉🍹
📅 Date: Sunday, December 17th
🏢 Venue: Kingscliff Community Hall, 81 Marine Parade, Kingscliff
🕐 Time: 1 PM onwards
This year, we’re taking you to a glorious mid-century modern venue with doors that open up to the beach, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable day of dancing and fun!
🍹 Bring Your Own:
It’s a BYO occasion, so grab your favorite beverages and let’s toast to the year’s end together. 🥂
💲 Entry Fee:
Entry is just $10 at the door, ensuring an affordable and fantastic day for all.
🎶 Entertainment:
Stay tuned for updates on the fantastic entertainment we have in store for you. It’s going to be a surprise worth waiting for!
🌺 Dress to Impress:
Put on your best tropical summer outfits because the best-dressed individual will win a FREE dance class with Swing On In – a prize worth millions (figuratively speaking, of course)! 🏆
🌴 Everyone is Welcome:
This event is open to everyone, so invite your friends and family for a day of beachside dancing and pure tropical bliss.
🌟 Proceeds After Costs:
We’re proud to announce that proceeds from this event, after covering costs, will go to support the wonderful work of BFF (Beauties Feeling Fabulous).
