Howdy, I thought I’d get one last newsletter in for 2020 before we kiss that year goodbye and welcome in the new optimistic, restorative, refreshing and “not our first rodeo” new year!  No matter what it brings, I think we will be better prepared than what this year threw at us hey!  Ever the glass half full kind of people, Ray and I feel in our Swingin Old Bones that this will be a stella year for swing dancing, community, new friendships, more corporate and arts and festival fun for all.  Are you in?

Northern Rivers/Mullum Classes Start Date

Not wasting anytime in 2021 and trying to catch you all up on what you missed out on in 2020, we are kicking back off wth our classes on THURSDAY 7th JANUARY at 6.30pm – $20 ppSwing Dance Classes on the Northern Rivers is back.PLEASE NOTE:Classes now on a THURSDAY NIGHTClass Times now starting at 6.30pmClass cost is $20ppClass Venue is Now – Mullumbimby Ex Services Club 58 Dally StSTART DATE: Thursday 7 January 2021Lindy Hop, Charleston, Shag, The Big Apple, Jazz, Technique, Lead and Follow Exercises, Mini Patterns, little routines, rhythms changes and some surprises and of course we guarantee: fun, joy, laughter and Repeat!THURSDAY NIGHTS: Mullumbimby Ex Services Club – 58 Dalley St – 6.30pm – $20pp
The club has a great feel, beautiful and cheap meals and the bar is also really affordable. It’s air-conditioned, the staff are super friendly and I think this is will a lovely new home for us.6.30pm – 7:15pm Beginners

Aussie Day Swing Dance Social

Welcome 2021 and Welcome to our first Social Dance for 2021. Join us in the good ole fashioned Aussie Spirit of community & dance. TUESDAY 26 JAN 2021 – 1pm to 6pm – $5Come in your best Aussie Summer getup for the fun of it as well as being cool and comfy as you will be sure to be dancing up a storm all day.Multiple Guest DJ’s and an appearance from our new resident songbird Mr Charlotte!$5 entry

Bistro and Bar OpenThe Mermaid Beach Bows Club runs under a Covid safe plan and requires everyone to sign in and sanitise upon entry.

Welcome to 2021 with Swing On In Gold Coast where we will cover the great partner and solo dances from the 1920’s, 30’s 40’s and 50’s including

Northern Rivers/Mullum Monthly Socials

Kicking off 2021 with a swing Dancing social bang. Our new Home at Mullumbimby Ex Services Club will also be home to our Monthly swing dance social on the 1st FRIDAY of every Month – 7pm (NSW time) and will cost between $10 and $20 pp depending on bands/entertainment on the night.Brought to you by @Swing On In and we promise to always create a safe, joyous and fun swing dancing space for you to dance your troubles away, meet new friends and improve your Swing Dancing.Our First Dance will be Friday 5th of February 2021 and we are so happy to announce that our Crooner Favs @Sebastiaan Scholtens and @Rhydian Lewis are back on board to delight and entertain you all night with their effortless Crooner Styles of Swingin Tunes!

They loved us and Swing Dancing So Much they want to feature Swing Dancing again on a larger scale for 2021 Bleach Festival and dates are 12-22 August 2021…Check out this years festival HERE and mark your diaries for 2021 and practice practice practice as well need all of you!

It’s all confirmed. and we are proud to announce that this event will again be hosted, supported and promoted by SWING On In for the Cooly Rocks On Festival.

If you have ever dreamed of having that classic, vintage look but never knew how? Do you long for a bit of 1940s glamour, 50’s cheesecake or retro style? Miss Chrissy and her Team can help you.Covering: 1920’s to the 1960’s with a heavy focus on:
1930’s & 40s Vintage Old Hollywood Hair & Makeup;
1950s Classic Style Hair & Makeup:
Pin Up/Retro and Kustom Kulture Looks also covered.

Yes we do Victory Rolls, Barrel Curls, Betty Bangs, Hollywood Rolls and Gibson Rolls too. We just start with Pin Curls!!

This class will start with the fundamentals and we will transition through to a finished look together.

Just before we head off into our new world of fabulousness I will run you through your best shapes for your body, for posing, for pictures or just for good posture.This class is open to all ages and if you are wanting to achieve some of these looks? Then this is the class for you…Class Time

Classes begin promptly so please arrive 10 mins prior to class commencement so as not to miss out on any of the fun!Our workshops specialise in participation and everyone getting involved, so to ensure you achieve the most out of our classes we advise you to bring some necessary items.

Hairspray

NB: Hair is easier to work with if it is not FRESHLY washed…Styling tools such as hot rollers, foam rollers, curling irons are optional as we instruct you on styles with and without the use of any tools.
Intermediate Workshop attendees need to bring (in addition to basics above) the following:Slide Combs (matching your hair colour)
Hot Rollers and/or Hot Sticks

NB: We do sell the following items at the workshop if you wish to bring some extra cash with you.
