Hello SwingSTARS! Yes I said STARS, as to us (That be Ray and I), we think you are all STARS! Why? coz you turn up, you give it all and you do it with smiles, laughter and a commitment that we can only admire.. Your sense of community and welcoming vibe is so fabulous and we thank you for being our Swing On In STARS!

It’s one thing to come to class each work and learn to dance but now where do you put that learning into practice? we all know that on the social dance floor is where you really became STARS!

The Annual Event not to miss!

Swing Dancers, Family and Friends are invited to join us for a magical day of fun, friends, farming, flowers and fancy footwork.

What: 3rd Annual “Swing In The Flowers Picnic Swing Dance”

This beautiful day includes:

• a visit to Ian’s Flower and Blueberry Farms on the Alstonville Plateau
• Picking Blueberries and then eating them – YUM –
• Flower Farm Walking Tour
• Tractor Rides
• Communal afternoon tea at the waterfall
• Cooked yummy Thai food provided by Ratchanee
• Dalwood Falls Waterfall Visit
• Tea Dance at the 110 years old Wollongbar Community Hall

Why: The last two years have been so successful and magical. It lingered in our hearts and minds. It was so special we just had to do it again, but this year will be even better with extra fun and surprises, waterfalls and walks.

NOTE: WE WILL BE ARRANGING CAR POOLING TO THE FALLS DUE TO LIMITED PARKING AT THAT SITE. WE WILL DO THIS FROMT HE FARM.. HOW MANY PEEPS CAN WE PILE ON THE BACK OF IANS FARM BIKE?

2.30 pm to 3.30pm – Waterfall/Picnic/Afternoon Tea
4 pm onwards at the Rouse Mill Hall for a Thai Food Cooked dinner and dancing.
BYO
$10 pp or $15 with dinner

Trip to the Blueberry Farm where you get to pick your own blueberries for your afternoon tea.
Afternoon Tea will be at the Waterfall featuring the Blueberries you handpicked smothered in double cream. Tea, Coffee, Water Refreshments supplied. (BYO Alcohol)
5:00pm Food and fancy footwork. Enjoy the catered food and some dancing on the beautiful timber floors of the very old Hall. BYO drinks.

Cost: $10 pp per adult entrance donation to charity
Children free (You can donate any amount if you choose)
$5.00 per person for food (adult or child) – This covers both arrival lunch and early evening dinner
Payment on the day at the door. All donations benefit The Ovarian Cancer of Australia and Beauties Feeling Fabulous, a Not for profit charity.

SWINGIN 60’S DANCE PARTY AT BRISBANE POWERHOUSE – FREE – FRIDAY 22ND NOVEMBER 2019 – 7PM to late – Grab your Go Go Boots and Beehives, Teddy Boy suits or Stove Pipes & Periwinkles

The Details:

FRIDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2019 – 7PM ONWARDS – Last year was such a magical night that the Powers that be at the Brisbane Powerhouse asked us to create another night of magic under the stars again this year as part of the Wonderland Festival https://brisbanepowerhouse.org/festivals/wonderland-festival-2019/ In fact, we will be kicking the festival off with a banging good shindig for you all to come along and dance to!

We have a super band for you.. We brought together the finest musicians, gave them the brief you need to dance and Voila! I give you: MISS WALLFLOWER AND THE MESS AROUNDS! – pics and bio to come and yes I might even give you a sneak peek into the set list son fabulous swinging dance music that will keep you on the dance floor all night! These guys are amazing and you will LOVE IT!

Yes there is a dance floor like last year. |
Yes the band will be playing dance music for your swing/blues, shag, R&R, Swinging 60’s, ballroom, or whatever dance style you like, we will cover it all.
Yes, Swing A Billy Ray is your in between DJ, spinning all your favourites.
Yes there will be a Best Dressed section again
Yes there will be a photobooth
Yes there will be Food and Cocktails/full bar
Yes there will be an afterparty inside like last year after the 10am finish of band outside.
Yes it is all free.

AND: to add to the fun, we have two Pop Up Salons offering FREE 60’s hair do’s beehives and the like all night! Take advantage and step out of the psychedelic world and create a new Swinging YOU!

I will be posting some images and video from last year to remind you how amazing this venue is and leading up to we will relate some ideas on what to wear etc..

GROUND AND SOUND SOCIALS: Thursday Fortnights – Next social dance party is: THURSDAY 3RD OCTOBER – 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Where music meets dance..

Now the place to be at on Thursdays each fortnight!! Join us this Thursday and then every 2 weeks after that from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.. this organic Swing Jam Session is open to jazz & swing musicians, open mic singers and Swing DJ’s wanting to play to the dancers, entertain the public and just enjoy the free space to explore and create.

We are hoping this night expands and grows organically, the guys at Ground N Sound are super supportive and with polished concrete floor, music memorabilia and vintage furniture this place has such speak easy character we just want to go and hang out there!

Open to all and completely FREE..

DANCE UNDER THE STARS – FRIDAY 13TH DECEMBER 2019 – 7PM – FREE

Let the festive season begin with a dance party at HOME.

We’re laying down the dance floor, hanging the lights and shining the brass (band that is) to create a Dance Palais beneath the stars.

Inspired by the Gold Coast’s dance hall hey days, this will be a glorious night of music, dancing and entertainment that will have you shaking your jazz hands, fluttering your quick step and free styling the Swing dance moves you didn’t even know you had!

Hosted by Everybody NOW’s Ian Pidd with guest artist and songstress Geraldine Quinn, and featuring the energizing 10 piece brass group Hot Potato Band, you’ll be twinkle toeing the night away alongside local ballroom and swing on in dancers with big band music and vintage footage from much loved bygone era. It’s a little vintage glam, a little Tina Sparkle and a little ‘all-on-the-floor’ freestyle dance party.
