Well kids… here we go again! August and September are absolutely jam-packed with live music, dancing, festivals, road trips and social shenanigans — and then October will be here in a hot minute, which means BYRON BAY LINDY EXCHANGE! ⚓

Friday 14 August — Community Tea Dance

Our next Community Tea Dance is almost here! We are back at the gorgeous CWA Hall in Coolangatta with Northern Rivers six-piece swing band Katrina & The Tweed Set bringing the live tunes.

Our lovely Charlotte will once again be supplying her home-baked goodies, with tea, coffee and hot chocolate to warm the bellies. The wonderful CWA ladies will have the bar open too for your beer, wine and soft-drink pleasure. 💗 Proceeds support Beauties Feeling Fabulous Inc.

Come solo, bring a friend, bring Mum, Dad, Nan or the neighbour — everyone is welcome and you don’t need to be a dancer!

Sunday 16 August — Home Front Festival

We’re stepping back in time for a beautiful day in the historic surrounds of Wolston House. Chrissy & Ray will be there wearing several hats — as usual! 😂

🎧 Swing-A-Billy Ray will be spinning vintage tunes
💄 Miss Chrissy & The Lindy Charm School will have the Vintage Hair & Makeup Pop-Up Salon
💃 Swing On In will be doing a dance demonstration and teaching a fun Swing Dance Taster Class

Bring a picnic rug, frock up in your vintage finery if the mood takes you, and settle in for a lovely day out.

21–23 August — Cairns Swing Festival

Then we’re packing the dance shoes and heading north! A bunch of the Swing On In crew are off to Cairns for a weekend of dancing, learning, laughing and hanging out with our swing friends.

We’ll be learning more cool stuff from the fabulous Sydney Swing Katz and dancing to one of our absolute favourite swing bands, Lucky Seven from Adelaide.

Sunshine + Cairns + Swing Dancing + Friends + Live Music. What could possibly go wrong?! 😂🌴💃

Friday 4 September — The Final Community Tea Dance!

All good things must come to an end, and Friday 4 September is the final night in this Community Tea Dance series — and we’re finishing with a cracker: Sweet Felicia & The Honey Tones!

Same gorgeous hall, same beautiful dance floor, same fabulous community atmosphere — and another brilliant live band to dance the night away to. 💗 Supporting Beauties Feeling Fabulous Inc.

Saturday 12 September — SWELL Swings the Fringe

Come along to the SWELL Sculpture Festival Fringe Bar, where our very own Swing-A-Billy Ray will be on the decks spinning a fabulous mix of swing, jump blues, rhythm & soul and mid-century jive.

I’d love to say “I can’t wait!” but I still have far too much to organise and far too many tickets to sell, so I don’t want to wish it here TOO quickly! 😂

Headliner Announcement — Bec Whitehead & The Atlantics!

We are thrilled to welcome Bec Whitehead & The Atlantics, a sensational 7-piece swing band, as our headline act for the Titanic Swing Ball at Byron Bay Lindy Exchange 2026! ⚓✨

Australian singer and entertainer Bec Whitehead captivates audiences with her powerhouse vocals and infectious energy, spanning Jazz, Swing, Jump Blues and beyond. Bec has shared the stage with Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Human Nature, Dami Im, Renee Geyer, Rhonda Burchmore, Kate Ceberano and many more.

Joining Bec for this very special night are David Cox — Saxophone, Josh Batka — Drums, Elliot Parker — Double Bass, Josh Dolan — Bass, Will Sargasso — Keys and Clint Allen — Trumpet.

And where are we holding this little soirée? The historic Bangalow A&I Hall, built in 1911 — the same year Titanic was launched. Not 1912, kids. We’re celebrating the glamorous bit! 😂⚓🥂

A Little Community Love

One of our favourite things about this funny little swing world is that it’s never only about the steps. It’s the friendships, the road trips, the dressing up, the laughs and the people you collect along the way. 💛

Thank you to everyone who keeps showing up, supporting live music, welcoming new faces and helping make Swing On In such a warm and wonderfully eclectic community.

Well… that’s quite enough for one newsletter! August, September and October are shaping up to be a fabulous few months of dancing, live music, friendship, community, road trips and general Swing On In shenanigans.
