It’s Cooly Rocks On Week coming up.. Whats happening? Where are we?

Hello beautiful people,

What a week!  My floor looks like the dressing rooms of a major retail store on boxing day sales!  Clothes everywhere!  Packing for our trip to Yeppoon, then unpacking then washing then packing again for Cooly Rocks On!  I’m so glad I have a whole studio to throw down outfits and decide what makes the cut and what doesn’t.. All this and yes we still work and yes we still pop our 2-3 times a week to teach and dance!  No matter!  I will sort that mess out after all the fun has been had right?

In this brief newsletter:

  1. Classes this week – Wednesday ON and Thursday OFF – Read on
  2. Cooly Rocks On – where are we going to be??

Classes this week:

Wednesday night for GOLD COAST Class is as per normal.. ie:  7pm start at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club.  This week we are going to do 3 things…. 1.  A beginner class rhueda to get you moving, 2. Breaking down and speeding up the Shim Sham to get you ready for Cooly Rocks On and 3. We will give you some entry and exit mini patterns to get in and out of the Jam circle for the finale at the dance.  If you are not going to the Moonlight Swing Dance, this will be a great class for you to pull out anytime you want to impress!

Thursday night for MULLUM is NOT happening due to us being at Cooly Rocks On Moonlight Swing Dance and Performing.  See you there or we will see you next week!

Cooly Rocks On – where are we going to be??

Here’s a bit of run down on where we will be at Cooly Rocks On this year.  We are checking in Thursday and Checking out Monday.  Looking forward to catching you on the dance floor somewhere..

Wednesday 7th  – 10am – 11am Miss Chrissy Sashing ceremony for the Pin Up Pageant Finalists at Greenmount Beach Surf Club – FREE – Public event

Wednesday 7pm – Swing Dance Classes with Chrissy & Ray (See above)

Thursday 8th – 9.15am – The Strand – Lindy Hop dance workshop wth Chrissy & Ray – Intermediate/Advance pattern

Thursday 8th – 11m – 2pm – Swing-A-Billy Ray DJ set at the DJ dance floor

Thursday 8th – 6.30pm – Moonlight Swing Dance – With Lucky Seven Band, Swing-A-Billy Ray and The HalfBreaks Dance Troupe

Thursday 8th – 10pm – The After Party at Coolangatta Sands Hotel – Melody Graves and the Hokum Redemption

Friday 9th – 12 Noon to 3pm – Swing-A-Billy Ray DJ set at the DJ dance floor

Friday 9th – 3pm – 5pm – FREE – The CRO Pin Up Pageant Show/Competition/final – Very Entertaining – Come along.

Friday 9th – 6.15pm – Queen Elizabeth Park – The Lucky Comets

Friday 9th  – 7pm – 9pm – Coolangatta Sands Hotel – Kieron McDonald Combo

Friday 9th – 10.15 – 11.45pm – Coolangatta Sands Hotel – The Go Getters

Saturday 10th – Nostalgia Markets – Bands all day including Boom Boom Delux, The Records, Kieron McDonald Combo

Saturday 10th – 3pm – 6pm – Swing-A-Billy Ray DJ set at the DJ dance floor

Not sure about Sat night yet.. Suggestions?

Sunday 11th – 10am – 11am – Elvis Gospel

Sunday 11th – Dixon St Stage – The Records, Peaches and the Alphasonics, Boom Boom Delux and Johnny Pandora

Sunday 11th – 5.30pm – 9.30m – Beachside Rock N Roll Dance – Swing-A-Billy Ray plus bands

Monday – Rest!

Looking for a PR Person to help me

Im a bit hopeless at own marketing but I have an idea and I need a PR Person to execute it.  We can talk what that looks like and how much that might cost offline BUT for now..  Do you know us?  Are you passionate about what we do?  Do you have a background in PR/Marketing?  I would like someone to help package us up..  Vintage Styling, makeovers, workshops, pop up salons etc, plus Swing A Billy Ray, DJ Entertainer extraordinaire and finally our Swing Dance School, performances, workshop, called etc.  So basically a Hat trick of talent worth hiring for festivals and corporates around Australia?  Swing On In + Lindy Charm School + SwingA Billy Ray and Miss Chrissy..  If you think you can help us and run with this, please DM me or email or chat to me when we see each other.  Thanks

A Supper Dance for Charity – Beauties Feeling Fabulous Inc.

I am so chuffed to finally be able to announce our HEADLINE ACT!!  I have been trying to secure this band for years but they are so popular travelling the world but finally!  they are available and Melissa is delighted to be performing for us.  Introducing Melissa Western and her Moxie Crew.  A 7 Piece Swing Band who will delight you all evening.  Here is a little about Melissa Western.

With a voice like velvet and a sparkling charisma to match, singer-actor Melissa Western melds stories and music for an event to remember.
As a sought-after live performing artist, lead vocalist, jazz singer, dancer, theatre actor and writer her extensive experience includes performing as the featured entertainment for Prime Ministers, Governors and Mayors at high profile events and ceremonies.
Her passion is taking to the stage in front of a live audience, seamlessly weaving song, movement and story into an experience they will want to share and cherish.
