Ho Ho Ho… I’m starting the carols early!!

Hey there swing dance family,  just a quick email to share the news as the Christmas rush starts to kick in.

Gold Coast Classes:

We have been enjoying a difference pace and some crazy music at our Tuesday Classes.  Still have a few more weeks to go and our last class at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club will be Tuesday 22 December.  New venue for 2021 to be advised when we find one.  We will kick off 3rd week of January more than likely and hit the deck running in 2021.. So much to do and want to make up for lost time..  See you all Tuesday night 7pm for some more shenanigans.

Mullumbimby Classes:

So excited to be kicking off next week for our first Northern Rivers Swing Dance Class since February!  Our new venue for that end of town is now Mullumbimby Ex Servicemans Club – 58 Dalley St.  The staff are so lovely there and the space (although different to Bangalow) will be just as wonderful.  It’s about who brings what energy to the community and we all know that you all do so we are confident there will be as much laughter, fun and learnings as there ever was!

Classes are:  Thursday Nights starting Thursday 26 November 2020 at 6.30pm and cost $20pp (For now until it builds up)
Last class for 2020 will be Thursday 17th December 2020 and the First Class back for 2021 will be: Thursday 7 January 2021.

Due to Covid relaxing of restrictions there is now no need to book, and we are able to rotate partners but adhere to the safe practices of our Covid safe plan and that includes staying home if you are unwell,  frequently washing hands and signing in on our Contact Register.

Christmas get together:

Swing On In Christmas Party…

It’s been a tough year for us Swing Dancers and our little school but things are looking brighter as we head into the festive season.  We want to put on a little, low key, FREE relaxed get together for our end of year break up.  As we are all about community, socialising as well as dancing we have opted for Barefoot Bowls and Swing Dancing at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club.  We will have 1 more final class at this venue after the social and finish up there on Tuesday 22nd December being our last class.. Next year we will be starting at a new venue (TBA).

Open to all and everyone welcome.   Guest DJ’s  Scott Cupit from London, Mark T from Gold Coast and DJ Tags from Brisbane  spinning their favourite tracks as well as our resident all time favourite Mr SwingABilly Ray.    The bistro and bar will be open so make an afternoon of it for lunch, drinks and dancing and yes of course a little bit of competitive lawn bowling action.
Of course A Swing On In affair is not complete unless its DRESS UP!  Come in your best Aussie Christmas Summer Loving Getup and prizes will be awarded!  🙂
Mark the date.  Sunday 20 December from 1pm and lets dance the arvo away.

Privates:

The Studio has been getting a workout over the past few months and Ray is busy building so by Christmas we will have a back deck and and be under cover.  Then next will be the Studio mirrors and bathroom.  Not waiting until its all done, out little multipurpose space has been getting a world out, from Private dance lessons to Sound studio filming for GranSlam and then becoming a spare room to house 5 family members and then back to a makeover studio the next day.  Hens Parties, Vintage Styling Workshops, Dance Troupe Practice and more. Next year will see Burlesque Classes/workshops in their as well.  So grateful we are able to work and build and create a place for so much fun.  If you would like to use this space or want some private lessons with us call Ray 0408306560 or myself 0409727888 .

2021:

We are going to hit the deck running with early start back of classes around mid January.  There will be Swing Balls, lots of regular social gatherings, dance troupe practice, more Workshops and involvement in corporates and festivals..  Working with others behind the scene to resuscitate our dance scene and get in front of more people.  If you want to help in any capacity then have a chat to us about ways you can be a part of Swing On In behind the Scenes team.  Thanks.

The Great Vintage Bike Ride:  What a lovely day out and THANK YOU for everyone that came along and dressed up and rode with us and then hung around for a wonderful lady back lazy picnic. It was a magical day and one we will definitely do again.  Thanks so much especially to Monique and Troy who organise all the food (with a hangover) and sorry on my part for forgetting the music BUT it was meant to be as everyone was so chatty that we would not have heard it anyway!  Here are a couple of pics from the day.  Thanks Johanka and Aik also for capturing some of these!
